We are seeking a Dietary Aide for Temporary Part Time for our location in Ottawa, Ontario.

ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE

Under the direction of the food services supervisor, responsible for the delivery and serving of meals to residents, and the cleanliness of the kitchen and equipment in accordance with specific standards and regulations.

BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of grade 12 education. Understanding of food service and preparation. Required to read and write English. Completion of food handlers and/or sanitation course an asset. Demonstrated customer service skills required.
  • Dietary Aide course required as per ministry standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists the health care aides in the dining room, verbally delivering menu and taking and fulfilling the resident's food choices.
  • Takes and records food temperatures.
  • Participates in and contributes to the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Ensures residents receive correct diet order and food preferences for those residents in the assigned area of the dining room. Follows therapeutic menus and portion sizes.
  • Puts away food products upon receiving, following proper storage procedures. Records proper fridge and freezer temperatures according to set standard.
  • Sets dining room tables and prepares trays, if required,
  • Clears and cleans dining room.
  • Washes and puts away dishes. Operates dish washing machine in accordance with procedures. Washes pots and cleans kitchen equipment and assigned area.
  • Portions food from steam table and portions desserts for meal service.
  • Follows safe food handling practices.
  • Provides assistance to cooks in preparation of food and assembly of salad/sandwich plates as assigned.
  • Complies with Occupational Health and Safety Insurance Act and WHIMS information system. This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills.
  • Participates in staff meetings and educational in-services as required. Performs other duties as assigned.
