POSITION: MANAGER, MATERNAL CHILD
Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director Patient Care, the Manager of Maternal Child is responsible for the day to day management of all resources required to ensure that all areas within the Maternal Child portfolio have the capacity to provide quality care using the principles of best practice in the most cost effective manner. The Manager is responsible for facilitating the care for maternal child patients by: ensuring quality patient care and competent, safe practice; coordinating staffing levels; reviewing workload measurement trends and addressing workload concerns; assessing and evaluating staff development and acting as a resource; identifying educational needs and providing/arranging in-services and directing/developing educational packages; managing employee relations through knowledge of collective agreements and corporate policies and procedures; developing/updating policies and procedures as required; demonstrating current knowledge of budget management, utilization management and fiscal accountability. As a dynamic leader, the Manager will demonstrate creativity, flexibility and innovation; and promote effective team building and facilitate staff professional development through promotion of standards of practice and ongoing learning.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field
• Current registration with, or be eligible for registration with, the College of Nursing or respective regulated College
• Project Management and Lean Certification preferred

Experience:
• 3 - 5 year’s current progressive experience in an acute care setting, Labour & Delivery, Post-Partum, Paediatrics , Special Care Nursery
• Previous management experience an asset.
• Experience leading clinical quality care initiatives.
• Experience participating in working groups and leading interdisciplinary groups.
• Passion and commitment to coaching and leading others.

• Demonstrated exceptional leadership and team building skills
• Support and provide direction to staff and interdisciplinary team in a highly stressful and rapidly changing environment
• Proven ability in working effectively with all members of health care team;
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral/written communication skills, problem solving, negotiation, conflict resolution and decision making skills
• Proven management skills including financial, human resources, evaluation, planning, organizational, utilization and time management skills
• Contributes to Program planning and operations, as well as participating in hospital-wide initiatives.
• Innovate and guide the team to drive clinical excellence and the constant pursuit of best practice.
• Possess skills to effectively influence for change management and quality improvement
• Knowledge of Hospital policies and procedures, relative legislation, collective agreements, Canadian Hospital Association Standards, College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Nursing Practice, nursing theories and a research based professional role
• Knowledge of budgeting process
• Demonstrated commitment to person centered care and interprofessional practice model of care
• Demonstrated analytical skills necessary to gather and interpret qualitative and quantitative data
Other:
• Well-developed computer skills, including knowledge of Meditech, Microsoft Office, Word and Excel programs
