POSITION: Prevention and Early Psychosis Intervention Worker
(Registered Nurse OR Social Worker)
Full-Time
POSITION SUMMARY: The successful candidate will work primarily with young people who have had a first onset of psychosis. The role includes working with outpatients, completing comprehensive assessments and providing treatment. The emphasis will be on secondary prevention and early intervention. Experience in working with individuals with serious mental illness and/or youth is essential. The applicant must be highly skilled in collaborating with community agencies, have an interest in family intervention, a keen knowledge of medications, and skills in presentations. This program will service Huron and Perth Counties.
REPORTS TO: Program Manager, Outpatient Mental Health Services
DATE REQUIRED: ASAP
QUALIFICATIONS: - Member of a regulated discipline including Social Work or Nursing (RN)
- Current Licensure with Appropriate Professional College or Association
REQUIREMENTS - 2 Years Mental Health experience with preference given to individuals who have worked in the community
- Previous experience working with predominantly younger population (12-25 years) and their families
- Valid Ontario Driver’s Licence and Access to Own Transportation with Auto Endorsement Insurance for Transporting Clients
SKILLS/ABILITIES: - Previous experience with case management and group facilitation is an asset
- Demonstrated knowledge with psychopharmacology
- Demonstrated adult teaching skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent assessment skills & development of treatment plans
- Crisis intervention skills
- Computer literate
- Experience working with Psychiatrists, Family Physicians and other professionals
- Willingness to travel throughout Huron & Perth counties and the SWLHIN
- Willingness to work flexible hours to ensure that patient care and program needs can be met
